The Question: According some websites you guys started in 2003 with this project. How did you come up with this idea and why the name Catz ‘n Dogz?
Catz ‘n Dogz: That’s right, we got together in 2003 originally under alias 3 Channels. We released techno & minimal sounds back then on labels like Crosstown and Trapez. Our sound has naturally evolved into house, so we have changed the name in 2008 to Catz ‘N Dogz and pursued a new production journey. Why Catz ‘N Dogz? We’re very different individuals, but somehow, we come together with all the ideas. We fight, we disagree but, in the end, we’re best friends. This is what Catz ‘N Dogz means to us.

The Question: What moment took you guys into the scene of Elektronic dance music?
The Catz ‘n Dogz: Electronic dance music has been a huge part of our lives from early childhood, so it’s not like something has taken us here. It was a natural progression from once a hobby to become our profession.

The Question: What do you do before you go into the studio to make some new hot tunes and how do you test them?
The Catz ‘n Dogz: We’ve been producing and touring for over 15 years now, so what keeps us going is trying to live a healthy life when off the road. We’re both workaholics, but recently learnt to allow ourselves to rest, get some quiet time or simply a day off. It really works the magic. To feel bored or to simply do nothing for a day brings lots of creative ideas into our minds, which we translate into sounds in the studio. Best ideas always come in the most unexpected moments.
We always test our new tunes at the gigs, getting the response from the crowd is the best feedback on one’s work.

The Question: Who is on the top of your list to work with in the studio?

The Catz ‘n Dogz: There are actually quite a few incredible musicians out there we’d like to collaborate on some projects with. We’ve also been quite fortunate to already work with a few of our favourites like Eats Everything, Green Velvet & Tensnake

The Question: What is your guilty pleasure in your music collection?
The Catz ‘n Dogz: I think our guilty pleasure needs to remain a secret!

The Question: Anything planned in nearest future?
The Catz ‘n Dogz: We’re putting the final touches to our 4th studio album, which will be released later this year. We’ve invited some incredible artist to our studio, the whole experience has been fantastic, so we can’t wait to share the album with our fans.

The Question: What can we expect from you guys at the Puur festival in Oegstgeest on the 14th of july?
The Catz ‘n Dogz: Lots of energy and summer anthems
